Hunters' Code

Never take an animal’s life without good cause. Make full use of all game killed.

Never leave a wounded animal without having done your best to follow it up. (Every hunting party should have a good tracker).

Don’t shoot animals at a water hole.

Don’t shoot females with dependant young.

Never shoot a living thing until you are sure it is a killing shot and that you are legally entitled to do so.

Never point a firearm at anything you do not intend to kill.

Never fire a shot at anything until you know where the bullet will stop.

Never carry a loaded firearm into a house, car or tent.

Never leave a loaded firearm unattended anywhere, even briefly.

Sight your rifle carefully before using it.

Treat all firearms as loaded unless the bolt is removed or the breech broken open.

Store your firearms in a place safe from burglars or children.

Don’t use a calibre which may be too light for the game in question.

Don’t shoot at night with or without a light except in culling or vermin control under legal circumstances.

Don’t poach. It is not only illegal; it is inconsiderate, very dangerous and unnecessary and carries very heavy penalties.

Be informed about the conservation practices and laws connected with our sport.

Don’t mix alcohol with gunpowder.
